I love holidays! Jason gets to be home and we get to do such fun things. This Pioneer Day, I decided to run the Deseret News Marathon. I did it with the bare minimum training (for me, some people would think it was plenty), so I decided to take it easy. I didn't even bring my watch. Not worrying about the time every mile was so liberating. I just listened to what my body was telling me. It was super hilly (long uphills followed by steep downhills) so there was a lot of quad work involved (the next two days were painful). When I finished I was suprised to beat my personal best time by 10 minutes! Way to go me!
After a nap and shower, we went up to Jason's grandparent's cabin and had a relaxing time. We went for walks and did some fourwheeling. What a great break! Now it's on to painting and packing.

way to go! that is so great to just run and not worry about time. makes it so much more enjoyable. i have been training lately without my watch. partly because i am too lazy, partly because it only works out here once i get to the park so it's not 100% accurate, and partly because i enjoy running based on how i feel. i will probably put it back on at some point, but for now i am enjoying running at my own pace, whatever that is! ;) i am doing a marathon in november. i wish it was already past, but i had some knee problems and i am having to start from scratch again. :( oh well. it will come soon enough!
Way to go! I'm so jealous that you were able to run a marathon ... and it's fantastic that you beat your personal best.
Wow, Jackie! That is awesome! Way to go, it always happens when we're not trying???
