Potty Training

Hopefully this doesn't embarrass Jefferson later, but I thougt I would share my story of potty training a kid who just didn't want to be trained...

So after many unsuccessful tries at it, we've finally done it! Nothing I could think of was working to get him to start. It turns out we just didn't have the right bribing tool. Grandma and Grandpa brought a remote control helicopter when they came for Christmas. He really wanted to play with it, but we wouldn't let him open it until he sat on the potty. He lasted a whole month, but finally broke down and sat on the potty. Every time he sat on the potty, we would fly it around. And thus we overcame our number one barrier!

After a three days of doing this, I was getting frustrated that he was so inconsistent. He'd sit on the potty one time, and then as soon as I put on his clothes, he'd be standing in puddle. The kid peed every 5-10 minutes! Finally, I just brought his potty in the living room and left him naked from the bottom down. He never had another accident! I think haivng clothes on confused him a little. After two days, I put back on his pants, but still left the potty in the living room (all I can say is that I was grateful we don't have carpet in there).
It is still a work in progress, but he is a champ at it. We are still working on going in the big potty without the little seat and going in unfamilair places, but I am so proud of him. Good job Jefferson!

Number one barrier, eh? HA.

Also, I love that you posted a picture of your kid on the toilet. That is so awesome.

Way to go Jefferson!!
